Overview and learning objectives

Session 1: Improve Your Hiring Through Marketing

It is no secret candidates have the upper hand in today’s job market. So, hiring teams must look for ways to be in front of job seekers at the right time and in the right way.

“Improve Your Hiring Through Marketing” kicks-off our five-part “Hire Power” series which is designed to help companies take a marketing-based approach to their recruiting and hiring processes.

In this session, participants will:

  • Learn more about the habits of today’s job seekers
  • Understand the role of marketing in hiring
  • Discover why building hiring personas is the key to reaching the desired audiences
  • Participate in a persona-development exercise
  • Be introduced to various marketing tactics for hiring success
Session 2: Using Digital Advertising to Target Job Candidates

Approximately 92% of U.S. citizens use the internet, with more than 90% engaged on at least one social media platform. And those users, on average, spend nearly 7 hours a day in front of a screen that is connected to the internet.

Potential hires are online and hiring teams must be there too! “Using Digital Advertising to Target Job Candidates” will explore the many ways companies can use their online presence to reach potential hires.

In this session, participants will:

  • Learn about the variety of available digital media opportunities (paid and organic)
  • Discover what digital assets are needed to start a successful hiring campaign
  • Understand how to leverage digital advertising to target job seekers
  • Participate in a digital marketing planning exercise for their company

Session 3: The Importance of Storytelling in Hiring

We all like a good story. Job seekers are no different. But many companies fail to share the “story” of their workplace, thus failing to connect with candidates who may be a great fit for their team.

Candidates are looking for more than just competitive pay. Strong culture and “fit” are often cited as things people look for in a potential employer. “The Importance of Storytelling in Hiring” will show how companies can gain an edge in the hiring process by bringing their workplace to life through stories.

In this session, participants will:

  • Learn how to use storytelling in the hiring process
  • Understand how to tell a great story and on what platforms
  • Examine examples of companies and organizations telling great stories
  • Take part in a story development exercise

Session 4: Creating Your Marketing Plan for Hiring

A marketing plan is like a roadmap. It provides a clear path for teams to meet their company goals and helps them navigate the many tasks needed for successful marketing initiatives.

Effective marketing plans require a defined strategy, measurable goals and a structured plan for implementation. Our “Creating Your Marketing Plan for Hiring” session will include a mix of instruction and time to “work” on a hiring marketing plan.

In this session, participants will:

  • Learn the components of an effective hiring plan
  • Understand the importance of setting measurable goals for hiring
  • Participate in a hands-on exercise to start building a company plan

Session 5: Measuring the Success of Your Efforts

“Measure what matters” is a popular saying in business. But when it comes to the sea of digital and traditional marketing performance metrics, it is difficult to know what to measure and how that data determines success.

“Measuring the Success of Your Efforts” focuses on setting and evaluating metrics before, during and after your hiring campaigns.

In this session, participants will:

  • Get an overview of key digital and traditional metrics and what they mean
  • Learn how to use these metrics to measure campaign success
  • Set up a dashboard/reporting system to assess ongoing and completed campaigns
